Health and Safety Policy

It is the policy of Fairwood Precision Engineering to carry out its activities in a manner the safeguards the health, safety and welfare of all its employees and others (including visitors, contractors and the public) and the company is committed to the implementation of a Health & Safety Management System that complies with OHSAS 18001:2007.

The successful implementation of the Fairwood Precision Engineering Health & Safety Policy will be through the commitment and involvement of the employees and everyone working on behalf of the company, who are expected and encouraged to be proactive on health and safety issues as part of the continued development of the health and safety culture of the Company.

Our target is for zero accidents and zero work-related illnesses.

Fairwood Precision Engineering is committed to continual improvement and ensures that, as far as is reasonably practicable, this policy is achieved by the following:-

  • The provision of premises, plant, equipment, and working methods that are safe and do not involve undue risk to anyone’s health or safety.
  • The provision of sufficient instruction, information, training and supervision for all employees.
  • A commitment to the prevention of injury and ill health.
  • The provision of adequate arrangements for consultation on measures for ensuring health and safety at work.
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments to develop safe systems of work.
  • Compliance with all relevant legislation and any other requirements as a minimum.
  • Maintain our Health & Safety standards though rigorous monitoring and review of performance.

The promotion of health and safety is regarded as the mutual responsibility of all employees throughout Fairwood Precision Engineering from Directors to Operators. Management philosophy is that health, safety and production should be mutually supportive and, to this end, are coordinated and controlled by the process ‘owner’ which means the shop floor supervision and operatives doing any particular task or group of tasks in each area.

Responsibilities of all parties are detailed in the Fairwood Engineering Health & Safety Manual. It is expected that those employees who have been given specific duties to implement this policy will discharge them diligently.

This policy has the commitment of Fairwood Precision Engineering management team who will provide the resources and support necessary to meet applicable internal and external requirements for health and safety best practice.
